Meet Billy Hughes
We strongly believe in the importance of getting to know everyone that has a hand in helping make the buying or selling process a reality. We are proud of what our administrative staff does to make each transaction go as smoothly as possible because, quite frankly, we couldn’t do it without their help! With that being said, take a moment to get to know our transaction coordinator and recruiter, Billy Hughes.
What made you choose Precision Home Group?
I knew Matthew, the owner, from working together in Wildland Fire and have always admired his discipline. Matt was also my Realtor for a couple of property transactions after he decided to leave the Wildland Fire industry and start his real estate company. When I heard there was a job opening on his team, I saw it as a great opportunity to grow with the company -- so, I applied for the position. Since then, we have experienced a lot of positive change within the company, and I look forward to seeing Precision Home Group continue to grow.
How long have you been with the company?
I have been with the company just shy of 2 years. In that time, we have launched a brokerage (Precision Real Estate), and moved to our new downtown office location. Since starting my position, I have hired a handful of agents and administrative staff, and have helped them grow into their positions, gain confidence, and exceed their goals!
I grew up in Anchorage, so being able to help those in my community achieve success has been very fulfilling to say the least. Seeing new employees gain proficiency and the confidence that those skills inspire has been very humbling in my position of leadership. I am very proud of our team, the things we have accomplished, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next. As always -- keep moving forward!
What do your day to day job roles/expectations look like?
As the transaction coordinator, I'm responsible for real estate transactions from contract to close. Once a contract is received, I work with agents and vendors to complete required tasks, such as scheduling photos or engineering. Smooth, well documented transactions are always going to be the desired outcome. This is accomplished by staying very organized, and having systems in place to ensure nothing is overlooked. Communication and planning in advance (i.e calendars) are critical factors as well. Having a reliable, efficient transaction process is absolutely necessary to ensure clients are well cared for, and contracts are executed as prescribed.
As the recruiter, I'm expected to hire motivated go-getters to fill the agent on-boarding pipeline. I work with individuals to plan for a smooth transition from their current job, to Precision Real Estate. Often, this means meeting with candidates after hours, coordinating study sessions, providing education on the licensing process, and keeping people engaged and moving forward in the hiring and on-boarding process. Having a reliable, well trained, highly motivated staff is critical to the success of any organization. This is a newly acquired skill for me, on top of being the transaction coordinator, and I have learned a lot. I am very grateful for the opportunity!
What is one of the most valuable things you have learned in your position?
I have learned the value of follow up and patience, it has also taught me to be more empathetic and understanding. Everyone is on their own timeline with their own variables.
Fun fact about you?
Still getting better every day!
