A Note from the Seller:

We've been really happy in our home. It's a quiet neighborhood and our home is in a cul-de-sac at the end of Checkmate Dr. This allows for parking overflow when we've had parties and gatherings.
The house backs up onto a Chester Creek tributary and College Gate Elementary. There's a footbridge access to the elementary school across the creek, and our daughter loved the access to the school playground. When it was time for her to come home, I could just call to her from the back yard.
We heard mostly all happy sounds coming from the playground. Our neighbors are pleasant, cooperative and helpful. I feel safe here. The University Lake Dog Park is an 8 minute walk from the house. Almost all services are available within a 5 minute drive, and many things are within walking distance.

The house has a really large, lawned and fenced back yard, one of the largest in the neighborhood. There are 7 apple trees, two raspberry hedges, red currants and gooseberry bushes as permanent plantings, and enough south-facing sun-drenched portions of the back yard for an ample garden. There's a built-in, three-section compost bin. There's a small putting green (20x20). There have been no chemicals used in the back yard since we purchased the house and children and animals can play without worry.

The large, roofed deck area was expanded in 2014. Even in rain, outdoor cooking and dining is possible. There is enough space for lounge chairs and since there are few insects, a good area for outdoor napping.

We have a large 12X20 shed with gambrel roof for dry and cold storage.

The house has a marvelous kitchen with two sinks, pantry with slide-out shelves, buffet bar, gas range, all paneled in oak. The house works really well for someone who loves to cook and entertain. The island also can serve as a breakfast bar and buffet serving area.

There's a wood stove with a white granite rock surround in the living room and two gas fireplaces for heating when the power is out, one in the den and one in the master suite.

The house had an energy retrofit in 2009 with a 4 Star Plus rating. In this retrofit we insulated the foundation, air sealed the attic, insulated and air sealed all recessed light fixtures to prevent moisture and heat escape. Insulated to near full level, R-40 or better. Replaced all windows with lowE argon, except master bedroom. We insulated the chimney to R-20. Heating bills were cut in half, and comfort throughout is much improved.

French doors open into large master suite with oak flooring, walk-in closet, two-person shower and gas fireplace.

We have enjoyed the large, accommodating den in lower level of our home with built-in wood bookcases, computer desk, filing cabinets, drawers and other ample storage.

Large mechanical - laundry room with storage cupboards. The warmth in there is great for line-drying clothes and there's plenty of room for standing racks.

We love the hard surface floors throughout the house which are easy to clean and great for allergy sufferers. Only one bedroom has carpet. The garage has built-in storage and a small area for a shop.
