Taking the Leap - Becoming a Realtor In 2020

I got about a month into working from home, during the shutdown earlier this year, before I finally had enough. I was tired of working toward something that did not achieve my long term goals.

A change was needed.

I made the commitment that I would be working in the field that I had been dreaming about for the past three years.

This commitment was made at a time when almost every indicator would say, “No, this is not the time to take risks!”, but nevertheless I followed through.

In a matter of months, I had my license hung at one of the premier brokerages in the state of Alaska. Just 2 weeks after, I had my first listing.

If there is one thing that I have learned throughout this year, it's not waiting to take action when it comes to pursuing your dreams. Even in the best of times, every decision and every change will carry some bit of risk along with it. In times like these, where many people are scared to take risks, that can be the perfect moment to rise and take action.

I have learned that proper preparation will make every obstacle much easier to overcome. Although you may not know what challenges to expect next, and you may be resistant to change, it is always good to start somewhere.

Even if it’s something as simple as setting aside a bit of money for a rainy day. If you can learn to take those risks, as small as they may seem, you will be setting yourself up to overcome any obstacle that may present itself in the future.

Becoming a Realtor in 2020 has made me face challenges that I never knew existed, and learn more than I ever thought possible. This is a time in my life where I can say that rising up and taking action was definitely worth the risk and I will carry these experiences with me for years to come.
